Mickey and Minnie's Surprise Celebration is a new event currently at Magic Kingdom in honor of Mickey's 90th birthday. There are only a few minor changes, so if you can't make it to this event don't worry because you won't be missing much.
Technically Mickey's birthday was on November 18th, 2018 but like any "basic" girl today they like to stretch out their birthday celebrations. The biggest update for the surprise celebration is you can now meet Mickey & Minnie together at Magic Kingdom. Before this event, the only other place you could meet them together was at Animal Kingdom. They will be in their new birthday suits. Minnie has the best outfit. Her confetti dress is filled with little plush balls which is a clever touch as opposed to Mickey's outfit which looks like it was bought at Party City.

Another addition to the celebration is the new Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party. This semi-parade features Mickey & Minnie along with some rare characters like Max from a Goofy Movie. Beware of Max though, he is way creepier in person. He looks like he is looking to feast on the blood of the nonbelievers. So besides avoiding Max at all costs you can dance with some characters from the parade along various spots in front of the castle.

Of course, there is new merchandise for this event! And of course, it's all going to be expensive. Below are some of the new pins to celebrate Mickey's birthday which I think are actually pretty cool. Buying pins is a dangerous game though. Each pin costs anywhere from $10 to $15 each. If you were to buy all three below, then you pretty much paid for half a day at Disney.
Another celebration exclusive is the new Mickey sippy cups which can be found throughout the park. The best place to get these is at Cosmic Rays in Tomorrow Land. I heard that they actually sold out of these bad boys at Disneyland. People are selling these for three times the original amount on Amazon right now! I am willing to sell mine for two tickets to Dirk Nowitzki's last home game.....court side. I am even willing to fill it up with some Chick-fil-a tea to sweeten the deal.

While I don't recommend going to Magic Kingdom just for this event, now would be a good time to go because this is considered their "slow" season. Once Star Wars Land opens up later this year at Hollywood Studios, you're going to need an actual light saber to get through the crowds. Mickey and Minnie's Surprise Celebration runs until September 30th, 2019.
